With care for the Mountain – young people from the SOS Family Home embark on healthy walks and activities
Our vision:
Every child belongs to a family and grows up with love, respect and security.
Our Mission:
We support families in creating a safe, stable, and caring environment for children. We participate in the development of local communities.
SOS Children’s Villages Bulgaria Association is the first civil rights organization in the country that provides direct care for children at risk. For the first time after the democratic changes, the Association offers an alternative to institutional care for children – care in an SOS family.
We are part of the large international SOS Children’s Villages International family, which cares for nearly 2,500,000 children in 137 countries around the world. We work with children, young people and families to break the cycle of neglect, violence and abandonment at a local level and, ideally, prevent it.
We support families at risk to keep them together and prevent separation. We offer alternative/family care when needed. We help young people on their way to independent life. We stand up for children’s rights.
Throughout our 33-year history in Bulgaria, we have supported:
· 697 children in our SOS Foster families and programs;
· 352 young people on the way to their independence after reaching the age of 18;
· 3,639 children through our Family Strengthening and Separation Prevention programs.
